Here at A Matter of Time, we like to make unusual and otherwise hard to find items available for sale from time to time. Below are a few pictures of an acquisition we made about 6 years ago. It is an Astronomical Regulator by John E. Berg Made in Chicago for a craft competition held during the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. Rumor has it, it took 1st place. This exquisite timepiece has been running in our building for the past 4 years and has averaged about + 4 seconds per year. YES! Per year. Beautifully jeweled Precision movement with jeweled pallets and a very rare & unusual Graham / Gravity escapement designed by Mr. Berg. The pendulum is made of brass and has a knife edge with three (3) separate adjustments on an Invar tube with approximately 160 threads per inch. As if that weren't enough? The tube is partially filled with Mercury to further compensate for changes in temperature. The finishing on all components of this movement are unparalleled by anything I've ever seen. This clock is truly one of a kind and it's beautiful! The approximate dimensions of this beauty are: 56½" high X 15¼" wide X 7½" deep. The bezel is 10" with an 8" chapter ring. The sub dials are 3¼" in diameter. Please Contact Us For Price & Further Details
